Q: Do I need to install a new roof before the solar panels are installed?

A: Solar panels are very durable and have a 25 year warranty (though they will last much longer). Therefore, you definitely should consider the age of your roof before you install them. If your roof is more than 20 years old and in bad shape you will definitely want to consider replacing your roof before installing them.

Q: Does it matter where on my roof I install the panels?

A: Yes. Your roof should face within 15 degrees of south and be in place where there is no shading from trees, power lines, etc. If you do not have this space or orientation on your home, you can still do a system on a pole or ground mount.
